A novel energy-based reduced-order model with the ability of isolating specific dynamics in turbulent pipe flow is investi-gated. The methodology to construct the model is discussed in detail, highlighting the limitations of the approach and future directions. Present results open up a new possibility for repre-senting turbulent flows and performing flow control studies
