New Developments in Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials

Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary field which is expected to bring new revolution particularly with convergence of Info- Bio- and Nanotechnologies. New developments in the field of nanoscience have led to greater understanding of scientific principles, miniaturization, manipulation of atomic and molecular structures that are critical for production and synthesis of new and smart devices and materials with unique performance and combination of properties. This paper highlights important features of a new MS degree program and reviews the ongoing research projects particularly related to the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials reinforced with different forms of carbon such as carbon nanotubes (CNT), C60, diamond, and pyrolitic graphite for many engineering and structural applications. Nanocomposite materials have been considered for a range of applications owing to their unique properties.
