The Mass Mobilization in Autocracies Database is a new data collection that tracks incidents of protest in autocratic countries. The database contains detailed information on these incidents with spatial and temporal coordinates. MMAD is based on media reports from different sources. This document describes the general conventions guiding the MMAD data collection, and introduces the variables it contains
