Abstract—This paper addresses Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) problems in DC-DC converters. Following an observer-based residual generation for fault detection, a novel technique is presented to determine the fault location. In comparison with the traditional FDI, the proposed method in this paper does not need a bank of residuals in the presence of multiple faults. This feature significantly simplifies the design process and reduces the computational burden. The effectiveness of the proposed FDI technique is evaluated through an extensive simulation on a step-down buck converter
