ABSTRACT: While ultimate failure governs the performance of some geosynthetic-reinforced systems (e.g. reinforced walls), the small displacement response governs the behavior of geosynthetic-reinforced pavement systems. Yet, quantification and characterization of the effectiveness of geosynthetic products under small displacement conditions has been limited. The purpose of this study is to develop a soil-geosynthetic interaction model that captures the stiffness of the soil-geosynthetic interaction under small displacement conditions.
