The interactions between nanoparticles (NPs) and proteins in living systems are a precursor to the formation of a NP–protein ‘‘corona’ ’ that underlies cellular and organism responses to nanomaterials. However, the thermodynamic properties and reversibility of NP–protein interactions have rarely been examined.
