A new approach for large eddy simulation (LES) of the ows around ground vehicles is demonstrated. It is based on the character of the ow with large regions of recirculations rather than on traditional resolution requirements for the LES of wall bounded ows. Recommendations for preparing and realization of LES for vehicle ows are presented and validated on a test case of the ow around an Ahmed body with the 25o angle of the rear slanted surface. Comparison of the LES results with the experimental data proved the validity of this new method
