Presently, sol–gel chemistry offers new and interesting pos-sibilities for the promising encapsulation of heat-sensitive and fragile biomolecules (enzyme, protein, antibody and whole cells of plant, animal and microbes); mainly, it is an inherent low temperature process and biocompatible.
