Due to limited battery of sensor nodes, energy efficiency becomes very critical issue. This paper presents a comparative analysis on various protocols of Wireless sensor networks. The overall objective of this paper is to evaluate the best protocol among the available protocols. This paper has shown that the still majority of research on WSNs suffers from certain issues. The use of the hard and soft thresholds has been ignored by the most of the existing researchers. In many protocols node might not become cluster head for a long time so will result in load misbalancing.
