Front cover: Salamanders belonging to the Ensatina complex form a circular distribution around the Central Valley of California, and are a classic example of a ring species. In this issue, Kuchta et al. (see pp. 982–995) evaluate competing biogeographical scenarios for the formation of the ring-like distribution.
