◮ Intuitionism was developed in the early 20th century by Brouwer and has elements in common logicism, formalism and Kant. ◮ Intuitionists see mathematics as fundamentally a mental process of construction and proof. ◮ The crucial difference is that, for intuitionists, the meaning of mathematical language is not independent of the constructive process. ◮ So in this respect it is very different from logicism, formalism and Kant. ◮ It presents a very different philosophical view of mathematics
