The use of pesticides and chemicals has become increasingly common in our schools when dealing with such problems as pests and weeds. Many of the pesticides currently in use our society pose risks to human health and the environment, with special risks to children. Some pesticides cause adverse health effects in humans such as cancer, neuralgic disruption, birth defects, genetic alteration, reproductive harm, immune system dysfunction, and acute poisoning. Therefore it is incumbent upon the school district to have a policy and procedure for managing pests on school campuses in a manner, which is safe for humans. It is the goal of the District to provide the safest and lowest risk approach to controlling pest problems while protecting people...
