It takes as co-author, Mathias Jaschhof, who has recently substantially altered and reconstituted the “Porricondylinae. ” This former group is now treated as two subfamilies, the Winnertziinae and the Porricondylinae, each of them made up of three tribes (Jaschhof 2013). Additionally, this third edition records the 35 new genera and 141 new species of Cecidomyiidae added to the other subfamilies since 2010. Some of those 141 species were described earlier than 2010 in obscure journals and were missed until now. Changes are made here without reference to the two past editions, which are now superseded.
