‘IT WAS JUST HORRIBLE’ THE FOOD EXPERIENCE OF IMMIGRANTS IN 1950s AUSTRALIA

Alma Mater Studiorum, where her thesis focused on the representation of food in southern Italian Neorealist literature. She is now completing her doctoral thesis on issues of food adjustment of southern Italians in postwar South Australia. Her current research interests include migration history and the history of immigration policies in Australia; the development of food systems in modern and contemporary Italy; the role of food-related behaviours in social and cultural power relations in contemporary history; and the construction and inven-tion of food traditions in western societies.
