project to determine the structural and environmental parameters governing the mode and magnitude of salient formation behind a submerged breakwater, remote sensing and GIS technique were used to assess the extent of erosion/accretion at Kerteh Bay, Terengganu, Malaysia and Palm beach, Florida, US. This paper will emphasize on the part of the study that highlights the accuracy of remote/GIS in measuring/detecting morphological changes in coastline. Multi-temporal LIDAR data of 0.6 m vertical accuracy and Multi-temporal Landsat satellite images of 30 m spatial resolution were acquired for these areas in US and Malaysia respectively.
