An association between delayed gastric emptying and diabetes was known for more than half a century and in 1958, Kassender coined the term “Gastroparesis diabeticorum”1. Much is known since then but many aspects, mainly concerning its pathophysiology and treatment, still have no satisfactory answers. Diabetic gastropathy can be defined as symptom complex with functional, contractile, electrical and sensory dysfunction of the stomach associated with diabetes. In its classical form, it is associated with delayed gastric emptying and is called diabetic gastroparesis.
