This paper explores the empirical relation between e-government and corruption in a large cross-section of countries covering the 1997-2002 period. We show that higher levels of e-government are causally associated with signi\u85cantly lower levels of corruption. Results are shown to be robust and to carry economic signi\u85cance. This leads us to conclude that well-designed ICT policies are likely to be e¤ective in the ght against corruption
