North Dakota ranks 6th in the United States in potato production: ● Approximately 5 % of the nations potatoes are grown in North Dakota ● In 1996 producers planted 134,000 acres of potatoes and harvested 131,000 acres with a yield of 220 cwt/acre. The value of the 1996 crop was estimated at $135 million. ● In 1997, producers planted 125,000 acres and harvested 105,000 of those acres with a yield of 205 cwt/acre. ● In 1998, producers planted 126,000 acres of potatoes and harvested 122,000 acres with a yield of 235 cwt/acre
