With the introduction of a direct publish/subscribe event service in networked real-time embedded systems the benefits of this communication scheme are utilized for a wide range of safety critical applications in automotive, avionics, telecommunications, and process control. This short paper discusses the advantages of an asynchronous push event notification mechanism in the software engineering for object-oriented, efficient, and deterministic real-time applications, and presents an architectural design pattern for the proposed decentralized publish/subscribe programming model, with a logical event channel as central component in this pattern
