Anemia is a pathological condition in which there is a decrease in red blood cell mass or decrease amount of hemoglobin. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common cause for it among all the others. IDA occurs when iron loss occurs and/or the dietary intake or absorption of iron is insufficient. Oxidative stress is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidant molecules; an increase in oxidants and/or a decrease in antioxidant capacity which is one of the potential biochemical mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of iron deficiency anemia.
