This project will use advanced risk and decision analysis models to design, analyze, and evaluate counter-terrorism strategies that use multiple layers of defenses, for example in border control, in nuclear and radiological detection, and in the detection and response to biological attacks. The new models will be applied to optimize the design of the GNDA architecture for detection and interdiction of nucear and radiological materials (see the figure below from the CRS, 2008).
