Background: Medical errors in the emergency department (ED) are common, and proportion of preventable adverse events is among the highest for all areas of medical care. Some of the most common types of medical mistakes in ED include misdiagnosis, medication errors, surgery errors, nosocomial infections, laboratory test errors, and administrative errors.
