We develop a multi-dimensional fluid model for the description of non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure discharges (APD) in the presence of complex chemistry (85 reactions) in He-air gas mixture. The significant influence of gap spacing between the dielectric barriers is analysed to distinguish the characteristics of charge carriers in APD. The temporal asymmetric distribution of discharge current density is modified by the influence of gap spacing, whereas it can be controlled by the application of appropriate chemistry. The dynamics of electrons are extremely modulated by the influence of gap spacing and the trapping of electrons prominently occur at small gap widths.
