BACKGROUND: Striae Gravidarum (SG) is a common problem that complicates the pregnancies. We aimed to evaluate the possible etiologic factors of SG and the possible importance of collagen polymorphism on SG. METHODS: Totally 151 parous women were evaluated for SG and its possible risk factors and their collagen1A1 (coll 1A1) gene polymorphism were investigated. RESULTS: Risk factors that might affect the striae score were evaluated by univariate variant analysis (ANCOVA) and only the maternal striae history seemed to be related with the stria formation. col 1A1 G2046T polymorphism is frequent in the SG group but the difference was not statistically significant (Odds ratio 1.33, %95CI 0.36-4.86, p=0.66). CONCLUSION: As the best of our knowled...
