AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE IMPACT OF QUALITY CONTROL IN PALM OIL PRODUCTION

In order to survive in a competitive market, improving quality and productivity of product or process is a must for any company. This study employed quality control charts to monitor and detect the quality level of palm oil produced by Ibok Brothers Oil Nig. All the mean-chart indicates that the process is in control. Also, this study employed chi-square in testing three hypotheses postulated in relation to consumer satisfaction, price of palm oil and knowledge of product characteristics by the consumers. This study reveals that: (i) there is a positive and significant relationship between consumer satisfaction and the quality of the palm oil (ii) there is no significant relationship between price (purchasing) of Ibok Brothers palm oil and the customers ’ knowledge of the intrinsic product characteristics. The results obtained in this study if implemented by the company, will help to improve the performance of machines and equipment as well as the quality of products being produced.
