A model for small capacity single effect solar powered lithium bromide absorption system was developed. Meteorological data of year 2000 was used for simulation to see the cooling effect. Attempt was made to study the life cycle cost of the system, and comparison was made with vapor compression chiller to see the economic feasibility of solar powered absorption system when compared to electric chillers. Furthermore, evaluation was made by simulation to see the effect of using direct loop hot water system where the water remained in the hot water loop to cool down at night and to an open loop system where the hot water of the present day was stored at the end of operation to be used the next day.
