Abstract- Cooperative diversity technique is the solution for Combating turbulence induced fading over Free space optical (FSO) links.In particular, We consider a decode and forward strategy with a single relay over FSO links with intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD).In FSO the source cannot broadcast the information message to destination and to distant relay simultaneously since additional power penality is required to transmit simultaneously. So, by using cooperative diversity technique the information message can be transmitted simultaneously which helps in enhancing the performance of FSO links since the gain of the diversity can compensate this power penality.
