Abstract: Writing skills can be sharpened effectively by analyzing errors and eliminating the same by the learners themselves. The learners need to be conscious about the errors / mistakes / slips while writing. Once they realize their mistakes in using the language, they try to rectify themselves and own the responsibility for their improvement. The present study aims to enhance the effect of correction symbols on promoting learners ’ abilities to correct their mistakes and examine the use of symbols as a strategy to encourage students to think about their mistakes and to correct them themselves.
