Abstract — Transmission towers have to carry heavy transmission conductors at a sufficient safe height from ground. In addition the towers have to sustain all kinds of natural disasters. Therefore care must be taken for the safe and economical design of transmission towers. In this paper an attempt has been made to find an economical configuration among square base and triangular base transmission tower for dynamic loading. A 220 KV transmission tower of 30 m height with angle sections is considered for the study. The towers have been modeled as a three dimensional structure and analyzed using the software STAAD.Pro. Dynamic loads due to wind are calculated and the towers are analyzed for the critical condition. Also the towers are analyzed...
