the Part-time/Full-time Wage Gap This paper documents the pattern of work behavior of Japanese women and discusses its implications on the part-time/full-time wage gap. In doing so, work experiences of various cohorts are followed by using repeated cross sectional data. Cohort differences are significant in women’s participation in part-time work. By combining information on cohort size, educational choice, and the employment pattern, I derive the education-age composition of the female workforce. The paper suggests that the education-age compositional changes may have been a major cause for the widening wage gap between full-time and part-time female employees. 1 1
