We set out to look at how american identification influenced bias towards arabs and muslims using Roccas et al. (2008) american identification variables of Nationalism, Patriotism, Attachment and Glorification. Previous Research: There are four conceptually distinct modes of identification: importance, commitment, superiority and deference Roccas et al. Previous Research: Intergroup violence depends in part on whether or not one accepts the political ends towards which violence is being used. Henry et al. Previous Research: SDO is related to harsh criminal sanctions and deterrence & retribution beliefs.
