STUDY OF GAMMA CASCADES OF 59Ni BY THERMAL NEUTRON REACTION

The quantum properties are important to study nuclear structure. The energy, spin, parity, transition orders are usually interesting to research. In this experiment, nickel natural is activated by thermal neutron on the 3rd horizontal channel of Dalat nuclear reactor to getting data by “event-event ” gamma-gamma coincidence method. This report shows the two-step cascades energies, relative intensities, the spin, the parity and electromagnetic transition probabilities of 59Ni by 58Ni(nth, 2)59Ni reaction. The scientific significance of the work is utilization of the two-step gamma ray cascades to determine the intensity and energy. Since then, the transition probabilities and intermediate quantum characteristics are splitted. The characteristics allow comparing transition probabilities between theory and empirical results. The results are consistent with a single particle model. The advantage of this method is that it allows determining a pair of the transitions and the intermediate levels directly
