Abstract: The purpose of this study was to identify the levels of the English language anxiety experienced by Form Four students in two selected schools. It was also to find out the extent of the relationship between students ’ English language anxiety and their achievement in school based oral English tests; and the difference between genders in English language anxiety. A survey was administered to 200 Form Four students (aged 15-16) of two secondary schools. The questionnaire reflected three components of English language anxiety, namely: (a) communication apprehension, (b) fear of negative evaluation, and (c) test anxiety.
