Network Coding (NC) has been proved to be the breakthrough in the research field of networks and communication. It is an effective technique to increase network capacity and improve the throughput, robustness and reliability of networks. Network Coding refers to a scheme where a node is allowed to generate output data by mixing its received data. This paper presents the use of Network Coding in wired Networks and wireless networks. We also surveys the applications of Network Coding in the domains of peer-to-peer Networks, delay tolerant Networks.
