Abstract — Distributed generation units (DGs), small generating units connected directly to the distribution networks are recently in growing attention as a solution to environmental and economical challenges caused by conventional power plants. In this study, a multi-objective framework is proposed for optimal placement and sizing of inverter based distributed generation units in meshed electric power system. The objective functions include maximizing the penetration level as well as minimizing power losses and total harmonic distortion subjected to various constraints such as power balance equations, bus voltage limits, individual harmonic distortion limit specified by IEEE-519 standard..
