The chalcones (3a-e) were obtained by Claisen-Schimdt condensation of aromatic aldehydes with o-hydroxy acetophenone. Chalcones (3a-e) on reaction with catalytic amount of I2 in DMSO gave Flavones (4a-e) in high yields. All the synthesized flavones were evaluated in vitro for antifungal screening. It is observed that all flavones showed moderate to good inhibitory activity
