The chemical compositions of Melαleuca alternifolia and Pogostemon cablin essential oil: A review

Essential oil is highly concentrated substances that are found in many aromatic plants. It consists of terpenes (monoterpenes, sesqueterpenes, etc.) alcohols, oxygenated compounds and many others. Nowadays, there are about three hundred essentials oils that extracted from different medicinal plants are used widely by professional practitioner for medical properties. Besides, the essential oils also can be used as flavour and fragrance. Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) and Pogostemon cablin (patchouli) are the herbal plants which widely used for cosmetics and medicinal purposes. This article will review the major chemical compositions of Tea Tree Oil (TTO) and Patchouli oil (PO) and the possible product developments for the benefits to the industries
