Abstract- This paper describes that concept of harmonics in the power systems and explains the different methods to reduce the harmonics problems. In the power system due to use of highly nonlinear devices harmonics are generated and it reduce the performance of the power systems. Thus it is necessary to examine and evaluate the different harmonic problems in the power system and introduce the suitable solution techniques. This paper firstly examine the propagation of harmonic current and voltage in the power system network and appreciate their consequences on both utility system equipments and end user components.
