Abstract: The fatty composition of African pear oil (APO) revealed that the oil is rich in saturated fatty acids, having palmitic acid (44.31%), stearic acid (8.07%), and oleic acid (42.45%) as the most abundant saturated and unsaturated fatty acids respectively. It iodine value was determine as 45.050 gI2/100g which classified it as non-drying oil. The synthesis of surface coating driers was carried out by precipitation method using APO, palm kernel oil (PKO), sodium hydroxide, lead (II) trioxonitrate (V), cobalt (II) chloride hexahydrate and anhydrous calcium chloride.
