Terrorism Prevention and Human Rights Violation

Terrorism is a significant threat to the protection of human rights, democracy, regional and international peace and security. Moreover, it is the duty and responsibility of each state or government to protect its citizens from terrorist attacks. However, terrorism counteract should not be an excuse to violate human rights and harm innocent people. The purpose of this paper will be to shed the light on three issues. First, the urgent need to fight and counteract terrorism in its different shapes and types. Second, the need to respect human rights and do not violate them. In other words to consider any citizen or human being innocent until it is proved that he/she is guilty. Third, with the excuse of terrorist counteraction, human rights should be conserved without any violation. The paper will be descriptive in nature with different points of view, examples on human right violation in many parts of the world, and discussion of how terrorism counteract can be carried out without violation of human rights in civilized societies. It will also shed the light on the rights of the suspected perpetrators of terrorist attacks because they are considered members of the human family in the course of apprehension and prosecution
