Various basic, efficient and cheap techniques are used for the purpose of life forecast and failure detection of aluminum electrolytic capacitors which are utilized as a part of many power electronic converters. The main idea of these techniques is to calculate the values of Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and Capacitance (C). Observing the ESR values, valuation of changes in voltage and current of electrolytic capacitor, can gauge the well being state of the converter as well as life period of capacitor. But these techniques fails to consider all four parameters temperature, frequency, voltage and current simultaneously that affect the life period of electrolytic capacitor.
