Nanoparticles of nickel oxide with an average crystalline size of 45-55nm have been successfully prepared by microwave irradiation using nickel nitrate and sodium hydroxide solutions as the starting materials. The precipitation of nickel hydroxide after dry was irradiated by microwave radiation for short time. The nickel oxide nanoparticles are characterized by using some techniques such as x-ray powder diffraction, atomic force microscope and light scattering methods. The x-ray diffraction data result for sample irradiated for 30sec showed three phases (Ni(OH)2, Ni2O3, and NiO) while sample for further treatment 60sec. Show highly pure phase of NiO with semi spherical shapes
