Abstract — FTM is an advanced instrument, which is designed to measure the line frequency (F) and rate of change of line frequency (dF/dT) cycle by cycle. This helps the utility to take remedial action and to know the exact rate of change of frequency during tripping, and also during islanding condition on line and thereby protecting the whole network system from damage. This instrument is designed on the digital bases. This present instrument is designed by using an Intel microcontroller.
