West African Sub-Region

This article is concerned with one of the structures put in place to coordinate security initiatives at both the international and regional levels with emphasis on the West African sub-region. Crimes across international borders constitute a threat to peace and security among different people and countries of the world. Interpol – the International Criminal Police Organization exists to facilitate the cooperation of the criminal police forces of more than 125 countries in their fight against international crime. Using the Multi-Disciplinary approach, the article highlights the contributions of Interpol in exposing the illegal importation of Beninese children into Nigeria for illegal gains through smuggling and human trafficking; as well as the activities of an international robbery gang in Benin Republic, specialized in snatching cars across international borders.
