This guide is the sixth in the Series on Guides for Special Education published by Unesco. The guides, which are intended for teachers, parents and community workers, aim at stimulating discussion on basic knowledge, methods and techniques relevant to the education of handicapped persons, and offer practical advice for action in this field. Although the guide is meant to promote and develop educa-tional support to visually impaired pupils in the ordinary school, the information, skills and activities covered are just as valuable to teachers working in special school settings.
