Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) have emerged as a key technology for next-generation wireless networking. It is a Communication Network made up of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology. WMN consist of mesh clients, mesh routers and gateways. Mesh clients are often laptops, cell phones and other wireless devices while the mesh routers forward traffic to and from the gateways which may, but need not, connect to the InternetThis paper focuses on a variety of routing protocols that are used in wireless mesh networks and identify the performance of these routing protocols. The performance is done with regards to the load balancing, packet delivery ratio, congestion, network overhead, throughput and mobility of nodes
