In this study, we applied the in situ spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) technology to the electrochemical test, and combined with cyclic voltammetry (CV) mainly researched underpotential-deposited (UPD) of Pb on polycrystalline Cu. The results showed the kinetics of UPD Pb on polycrytalline Cu was a quasi-reversible two dimensional nucleation and growth process, the reversible Pb UPD potential is −350mV. The substrate solution interface structure was described with an effective medium approximation (EMA) model, and the volume fraction of Pb and solution were fitted. Fitting results showed that double layer charge and hydrogen reduction reaction cannot be ignored
