This paper illustrates added values of an integrated devel-opment methodology for distributed real-time applications. Strategic focuses of the proposed methodology and middle-ware framework are real-time and embedded applications. The framework builds on top of real-time Java with an asyn-chronous communication model for broadcast networks and fieldbusses. Results of the EC research projects HIDOORS (IST2001-32329) and HIJA (IST 2003-511718) are used to establish a methodology which supports design, implemen-tation, and analysis of distributed real-time applications
