Abstract: The problem that exists in Mach-Zehnder modulator subjected to high frequency input signals, will produce inter modulation distortion and harmonic distortion due to its non-linear nature. These distortions are limiting the performance of the analog optical links. To overcome these distortions, Mach-zehnder interferometer with one arm loaded with double micro ring resonator is widely used. The advantage of the double micro ring resonator acts as a second-order all pass filter and it provide not only very low non-linear distortion but also high slope efficiency, resulting in high output radio frequency gain, which is desirable for analog links.
