An Agile BPM Project Methodology

Abstract. Business Process Management (BPM) has become one of the most important management disciplines in recent years. In reality, how-ever, many technical process improvement projects failed in the past and the expected benefits could not be established. In the meantime, the ag-ile software development movement made massive progress in contrast to classic waterfall approaches which are still the foundational method-ologies for many BPM projects. This paper investigates the combination of a traditional BPM methodology and agile software development to overcome the limitations of existing BPM methodologies. The main fo-cus is on projects that cover the technical realization of processes based on modern Business Process Management Systems (BPMS).
